In a world that often celebrates conformity, Geetika Agrawal represents the power of curiosity, creativity, and the courage to forge one’s path. Her story is not just about the founding of VAWAA (Vacation With An Artist), an innovative platform transforming the way we travel and learn, but also about a personal quest for meaning, impact, and the relentless pursuit of passion.
Born and raised in India, Geetika’s early life was steeped in the rich cultural heritage and diverse artistic traditions of her homeland. Her academic journey in architecture and design not only honed her aesthetic sensibilities but also deepened her appreciation for the intricate relationship between art, culture, and community. However, it was her move to New York, that marked a pivotal chapter in her life.

In New York, Geetika immersed herself in the dynamic world of digital design, rapidly ascending the ranks to become a creative director at a global digital agency. This phase of her career was characterized by groundbreaking projects, collaborations with industry luminaries, and a deep engagement with the cutting-edge of design technology. Yet, amidst the accolades and achievements, Geetika felt a stirring for something more—a desire to reconnect with the tangible, tactile world of traditional arts and crafts that had captivated her in her youth.
The idea for Vawaa was born out of this intersection of digital expertise and a yearning for authentic, hands-on artistic experiences. Geetika envisioned a platform that would democratize access to master artists and craftspeople around the globe, enabling travelers to not just observe but actively participate in the creative process. The concept was bold and untested, requiring not just vision but a leap of faith.
Taking a sabbatical from her thriving career, Geetika embarked on a year-long journey that would take her to the studios and workshops of master artists across 12 countries. Each destination brought new insights, from the serene landscapes of Slovenia to the vibrant markets of India, enriching her understanding of art as a universal language of connection and expression. “I had a comfortable life and a great job working with some of the most talented people. But the idea of VAWAA was brewing in my head for a few years, so I finally decided to give it a chance. It was an idea, I did not have a plan, just a burning desire to explore.”, says Geetika about that time.

The launch of VAWAA marked the culmination of this journey, but also the beginning of a new chapter in Geetika’s life. As the platform grew, so did its impact, offering both artists and travelers a space for mutual exchange and inspiration. Geetika’s role evolved from founder to curator, mentor, and advocate for the preservation of traditional arts in the modern world.
Under her leadership, VAWAA has flourished into a community where learning goes beyond the acquisition of skills to become a transformative experience. Travelers return with more than just souvenirs; they bring back stories, new perspectives, and often, a renewed sense of purpose. For the artists, Vawaa has become a conduit for cultural preservation, enabling them to share their heritage with a global audience and ensure the survival of their crafts for future generations.
Geetika’s story is a compelling narrative of how one individual’s pursuit of passion can spark a movement, bridging cultures, and transforming lives. Her journey from the bustling streets of New York to the heart of global artistic communities underscores the universal hunger for authentic experiences and the power of art to unite us across boundaries.
Today, Geetika Agrawal continues to inspire as a leader, innovator, and champion of cultural exchange. Her work with Vawaa is a reminder that in a digitized, fast-paced world, the most impactful journeys are those that connect us with our shared humanity, our creativity, and the enduring legacy of traditional arts.
“I believe, engaging in arts helps us get more curious and comfortable with the unknown, improving our risk-taking abilities. It is a good skill to have as life is not predictable and it would be pretty boring without some adventure.” Through her vision, Geetika has not just changed the way we travel; she has redefined what it means to live a life enriched by art, culture, and continuous learning.
